My child played around in a playpen while I was working 12-hour shifts, sanding the floor and taking down the wallpaper. Ha! It was all falling into place, but it was not quite done. The project would require the time, energy, and of course my favourite shopping experience to furnish this house. To stay within the budget, I started taking my kids to estate sales in search of diamonds. Every week, we would stroll through garage and estate sales on Saturdays and Thursdays buying a mixture of old and new pieces. My next task was to spend my weekdays painting and sanding out in the driveway. The look was a little similar to the following... This is where my obsession with the restoration of antique furniture began. Even though the house was fully decorated, I was unable to put down. I had an area at the market to sell things. In the end, I accumulated more items that I had no idea what to do with and had outgrown the space. In my own home, I started hosting open houses in which more than 1000 people could come in and purchase any product they wanted on the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days was founded in my own home. Not only was my business flourishing, but I was also growing my sweet family too. It was like I was able to find the perfect way to balance being a mom as well as starting my own venture. Growing Days was the obvious choice. Nora was born in 2013 to be our fourth baby. While I was pleased about the direction my company went, I was feeling like I had to take some time off. I decided to slow down and stay at home, spending time with my children. That was exactly what I needed at that time. It was only after several months when the phones began to be ringing. They were asking for my help in interior decoration as well as renovations. These were mostly customers who visited my house for furniture. Once I had a few months I started taking on clients at my pace. In no time, I was managing several accounts and a home renovations company. I'm sure you would have made me laugh if you had said that it would be the foundation of the DIY Network tv series. When I look back, it makes me laugh.
