Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her initial performances on Broadway include the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford can be seen next starring alongside Kumail Nanjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is in the production of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. It's also available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the musical. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the nation's crisis, which swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment hearings in over 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the hit CBS comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. Also, it included Ben Vereen as well as Hector Elizondo. Additional Broadway credits includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
