Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou is the youngest of four children born on August 9th, 1976 from Beaumont Puy in Domme. From a very young age, her dentist surgeon parents and her teacher mother supported Audrey's love of theatre and drama. The passion for theater was the one which trumped her original desire to become a primatologist. Her meteoric rise as an actor in the young age was swift and marked by early success. Prior to beginning an acting career she was a participant in Jeunes Premiers which was a French show on TV that focuses on talent which was a part of Canal+ in 1998. She also won the title of Best Young Actress at during the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. Although she studied at The Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou has distanced herself from this upbringing, stating she's not Catholic. Alongside her acting work, she is also pursuing modelling. She was the model in the commercials for L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and was dubbed "The Chanel Muse". Apart from her acting career she is also interested in photography. Recently, she exhibited a selection images during the Arles Film Festival, under the name Superficial. The work she produces is focused on fame as well as the fame. Also, it features portraits of herself and particular focus on the media that has scrutinised Tautou since her meteoric success following Amelie. Audrey Tautou's debut performance, in the role of Amelie Poulain's leading actor in Le Fabuleux d'Amelie Poulain, brought her international stardom. Amelie achieved international success on the screen and was awarded awards across the world. The film is still the top-grossing French language film to be released in the US. In the years following the release of this film, Tautou starred in a variety of films, ranging from British dramas and Jean Pierre Jeunet's film Un long dimanche de fiancailles. After that, she shifted to Hollywood and appeared alongside Tom Hanks alongside Ron Howard in The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.
